HALAL SCIENCE CENTRE UNIVERSITY OF CHULALONGKORN SET A HIGH BENCHMARK FOR HALAL SCIENCE STUDY

AHAL Institute STML Fellows visited Halal Science Centre at the end of August 2016, as part of their continuous improvement strategy for the SCOE. During the visit, they were warmly welcomed by the Director himself, Associate Professor Dr. Winai Dahlan. Dr. Winai shared his experience in setting up one of the most recognized halal laboratory in the world and was happy to hear about UUM’s initiative in the field of halal research. AHAL was represented by Dr. Risyawati Mohd Ismail, Associate Professor Dr. Siti Norezam Othman and Dr. Adam Mohd Saifuddin.

Working Visit of a Professor of Osaka University, Osaka, Japan

STML received a working visit of Professor Dr Eiichi Tamiya from Graduate School of Engineering, Osaka University, Osaka, Japan on 24 April 2016. He delivered a talk on “Nano/Bio-Technology: Biomedical and Halal Applications” which was organized by Knowledge Science Research Lab (KSRL) as the Knowledge Science Talk Series #2, and attended by academic staffs of STML and some students.

AHAL INSTITUTE GARNERING ATTENTION OF INTERNATIONAL RESEARCHERS

Asian Halal (AHAL) Institute STML has received the attention of international researcher on its halal related research activities. Starting from early October 2016, a researcher from Reitaku University has chosen AHAL Institute to base his research, focusing on halal supply chain. Mr. Tatsuya Fujiwara who is now conducting his PhD research has decided to join AHAL Institute for 2 months as a visiting researcher in order to further his study on local halal SMEs in Kedah. Currently he is being supervised by Dr. Risyawati in completing his research and has been connected to various halal food companies within the AHAL network.

Working Visit of the Dean-School of International Relations of University of Shizuoka, Shizuoka, Japan

STML received a working visit of the Dean of School of International Relations Prof. Dr Hisao Tomizawa from the University of Shizuoka, Shizuoka, Japan (JAIST) on 24 March 2016. He delivered a talk on “Global Halal Market: Challenges and Opportunities” which was co-organized by Knowledge Science Research Lab (KSRL) and Asian Halal Lab (AHAL), and attended by academic staffs of STML and some students.
