Sustainable Development Goals STML

Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), 21 Julai 2020 - Institut Pengurusan Bencana (DMI) Pusat Pengajian Pengurusan Teknologi dan Logistik (STML) mengambil inisiatif untuk menganjurkan DMI Discourse Series yang pertama selaras dengan usaha global dalam meningkatkan kesedaran tentang Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) dengan tajuk “Business and Social Research Excellence for Mainstreaming Sustainable Development Goals”. Penganjuran DMI Discourse Series ini dilihat selaras dengan usaha untuk terus mempromosi SDGs kearah mencapai kelestarian pembangunan sosial, ekonomi, pembasmian kemiskinan, kesihatan, pendidikan, pemanasan global, sanitasi, tenaga, urbanisasi dan alam sekitar. Panel jemputan bagi program DMI Discourse Series ini terdiri dari Prof. Dr Shahbaz Khan, Pengarah Biro Sains UNESCO Serantau Asia Pasifik dan Prof. Madya Dr Zainal Abidin Sanusi, Pengarah, Sejahtera Centre for Sustainability and Humanity Development, Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Malaysia (UIAM) dan moderator bagi program ini adalah Prof. Dr Ayoib Che Ahmad, Timbalan Naib Canselor, Penyelidikan dan Inovasi, Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM). Program ini dijalankan secara atas talian dan secara langsung di Facebook. Ianya mendapat sambutan yang sangat baik dari dalam dan luar negara termasuk peserta dari Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Indonesia, China dan Jepun.

HOPE FOR ORPHAN: ‘SHAPING FUTURES’

Hope for Orphan was another charity program organised by Logtrans Club. This time the program focused on the orphanage in Pusat Jagaan Baitul Mahabbah Al-Hashimi, Kuala Nerang. This program was a long-term program (From April to October) collaborated with the orphanage institution to help the orphans (elementary school students) to experience better study session. This program was also aimed to help the orphans to dream big as they are growing with the example of the tutor that visit them frequently. This program held every week with 6 volunteer tutors from STML students. There were tutoring session for every visit for the orphans. There were several subjects taught by the tutors included English, Maths and English. This program led by Khairun Nisha Khairul Anuar and assisted by 17 more tutors. This program also did charity selling by selling their program’s t-shirts. The profits gained from the shirts selling was used for the program. The charity selling received amazing feedbacks by all UUM students and the shirts has sold over 100++ pieces.

RESEARCHERS URGED TO BOOST UNIVERSITY INNOVATION AND COMMERCIALIZATION ACTIVITIES

In addition to publications and research, researchers at the University are encouraged to further boost the field of commercialization in efforts to expand its wings in their chosen field.

In a bid to delve deeper into the issue, the Innovation and Commercialization Committee, School of Technology Management and Logistics (STML) hosted a Webinar on Commercialization of University R&D Activities through the Webex teleconferencing via the STML Facebook.

FInDER CONTINUOUS TIRELESSLY ASSIST FRONLINER

Keep serving! Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) continuos to tirelessly assist the frontline personnel who are striving hard to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic. This time, the Innovation and Commercialisation Centre (ICC) in collaboration with Food Security, Innovation and Development Research (FInDER) successfully produced germ disinfectant liquid or hand sanitizers.
