The School of Technology Management and Logistics (STML) has created history in ITEX 2012 after securing a Gold Medal through the entry titled “Innovation in Green Management Technology: Case in Rural Area at Lovely Farm”. ITEX 2012 is the 23rd International Invention, Innovation and Technology Exhibition organised by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, which was held in Kuala Lumpur on the 17th to 19th May 2012.
This achievement was obtained by one of the STML SIG, namely the Agro Business SIG, that is spearheaded by Dr. Kamal Ab. Hamid, Dr. Siti Norezam Othman, Dr. Noorulsadiqin Azbiya Yaacob, Pn. Zakirah Othman, and Dr. Norani Nordin, who were successful in highlighting an innovative agricultural technique involving the planting of rice paddy organically using the ‘System Of Rice Intensification (SRI)’ performed at the Ladang Lovely Kampung Lintang, Sik. This innovation was achieved through the close cooperation from KEDA and Belantik Cooperative emphasising on green management technology, which was successful in enhancing the rice output threefold, as compared to the traditional system that has been in place for all this time.
Referring to this success, the Dean, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zulkifli Mohamed Udin congratulated the Agro Business SIG for not only winning the innovation prize, but also the success of Agro Business SIG in forming close network ties with external parties in their effort of putting forward their ideas of green management that was pioneered by STML ever since it was established in July 2011. This achievement has further raised the standing and enhanced the image of UUM as the Eminent Management University.
