On March 14, 2014, a total of 29 students of final year semester for Management Program (POM) from the School of Technology Management and Logistics (STML) UUM has organized a study tour to The New Straits Times Press, Shah Alam, Selangor. The visit is to meet the course requirements BJMP 3053 Operational Strategy for Bachelor of Operations Management (BPOM) offered by STML.
Tours led by senior lecturer who is also the subject lecturer, Dr Adam Mohd Saifuddin, departs from UUM 7.00 am and arrived at 3.30 pm at NSTP Printing Plant Shah Alam. The arrival of UUM students was greeted NSTP Officer Shah Alam, Mr. Jefri and briefed on the company's background and the process printing press.
The delegation was taken to see newspapers printing process from beginning to end. Among others see how the newspaper is prepared and delivered for distribution to suppliers. All input and output process gives a new experience to the participants of the group about how the printing press created before being sent for selling.
This is followed by a question and answer session which was chaired by Mr. NSTP. Jefri, assisted by Mrs Shamini and En. Lukman Aldrine about current issues related newspaper industry and its development.
Student representatives, Oon Wie Lam and Raja Raja Aziz Muhd Hafiz described as this study tour provides valuable experience how to manage the daily operations of a factory. For Chan Yit June he has opened his mind to and ready to work as a professional working environment. Catherina Francis hope that this visit gave her the opportunity to learn about the daily tasks on every important position in NSTP and the strategy adopted.
