The denizens of Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) have been urged to be prepared to help elevate the university brand to the highest level.
Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), Prof. Dr. Haim Hilman Abdullah, who is performing the duties of Vice-Chancellor, said the university denizens are chosen by Allah to carry out their duties for the development of the ummah.
According to him, for the first time, UUM was listed in the Top 100 QS World University Rankings 2022-Asia and that success was never something UUM denizens ever anticipated.
My heartiest congratulations on the commitment given by the academic staff as well as the administrative staff of this university, who together have helped in the attainment of today’s success.
"I would also like to remind the campus community to be ready to contribute their energy without expecting a direct return because every contribution and kindness we give will surely be replaced by Allah with better kindness," he said at the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings by Subject 2022 Certificate Presentation ceremony held at the STML Main Meeting Room, on Thursday.
The Dean of the School of Technology Management and Logistics (STML), Prof. Dr. Nor Hasni Osman, also received the Top 100 QS World University Rankings 2022-Asia certificate.
Prof. Dr. Haim Hilman also reiterated that university denizens should not only be ready to help elevate the image of the university, but also contribute to the community in need.
During the visit, Prof. Dr. Haim Hilman also explained the Gagasan Akademia dan Admin Holistik (GAGAH) UUM 2021-2025, a machinery that will drive the UUM Strategic Plan.
Meanwhile, the Dean of STML, Prof. Dr. Nor Hasni, said that he was proud and overwhelmed because, for the first time, STML was listed in THE World University Rankings by Subject 2022 for the subject of Business and Economics, being ranked 201-250 even though there was no specific name for the STML programme.
According to him, the STML key performance indicators (KPIs) for the UUM Strategic Plan also showed that the school succeeded in producing the most high-impact studies and that it indirectly assisted in the listing of STML for the ranking.
Apart from that, he said, throughout his tenure at the school since 2019, STML managed to secure the top 3 position for the UUM Strategic Plan measurement.
"Thank you to all the lecturers who have contributed so much to SCOPUS and high-impact publications, and I hope the STML subject itself will be in this ranking subject in the future," he said.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Herman Shah Anuar, Coordinator of the Postgraduate Logistics Department, STML, expressed pride in STML's accomplishments, which have helped elevate UUM's ranking.
He was also moved by the presence of Prof. Dr Haim Hilman, who was willing to personally come down to STML to present the certificate, which will be a source of encouragement to all STML residents to continue working hard as one big UUM family.
