Kuala Lumpur, 30 June - Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) in collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education organised the CEO @ Faculty Programme with the Group Chief Human Capital Officer of Maybank, Nora Abdul Manaf. This programme aimed to aquaint students with the various aspects of human capital in the banking industry.
The CEO @ Faculty Programme was held at Maybank Tower (Menara Maybank), Kuala Lumpur and it saw the involvements of UUM Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) students.
During the session, Ms. Nora Abdul Manaf shared the history of the largest network of banks and financial group in Malaysia and the transformation it has undergone since its establishment in 1960 and also the recent transformation in 2008.
She has led Maybank’s people transformation programme in 2009 and she is responsible for the human capital development and implementation of the Maybank group policies.
She explained that the transformation programme was performed with the aim of strengthening Maybank's position as the top leading bank in Malaysia and the result was evinced in 2010 when Maybank was crowned as the nation’s preferred employer of graduates. For the Banking and Finance services category, Maybank has improved its position from the 17th. to the 5th. position in 2011, the third in 2012 and Maybank came second in 2013.
Nora also disclosed on the initiatives that have been implemented in Maybank transformation programme.
In attendance at the CEO @ Faculty Programme were the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International Affairs), Prof Dr Hassan Ali; Dean of the School of Technology Management and Logistics (STML), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Shahimi Mohtar and the Dean of the School of Economics, Finance and Banking (SEFB), Prof. Dr. Yusnidah Ibrahim.
