With the intent of exposing students to pieces of the real context in the career world, Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) hosted the CEO@Faculty Programme and invited the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of PKT Logistics Sdn Bhd, Dato’ Michael Boon Yiaw Tio to enlighten the students with his real-life experiences and expertise in the transport and logistics industry .
The CEO@Faculty Programme offers public lecture and recently, a session was held at the Seminar Hall C of the School of Technology Management and Logistics (STML).
In the lecture, Dato’ Michael Tio shared his invaluable experience in leading and managing a transportation and logistics company in Malaysia in addition to facing a myriad of challenges when he took over the company from his father and he also shared his company’s vision.
A Q&A session with UUM students was also held after the lecture. Also present at the public lecture were the Dean of STML, Assoc. Prof. Dr Shahimi Mohtar and lecturers from STML.
Earlier on, a discussion session between PKT Logistics and UUM was held at the STML meeting room.
Datuk Michael Tio was also presented with the letter of appointment as an Adjunct Professor by UUM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato' Seri Dr. Mohamed Mustafa Ishak at EDC Hotel & Residence.
CEO @ Faculty Programme is an initiative proposed by the Ministry of Higher Education (KPT) and the primary objective is to intensify the involvement of the industrial experts in the national higher education system through the sharing of experiences, insights and expertise of the industry leaders.
The CEO involved in this programme will share between 20 to 30 hours of consultation services, lecture, knowledge sharing session, case studies and keynote address to students, lecturers and academic staff.
