To help underprivileged students, the Student Development and Alumni Committee, School of Technology Management and Logistics (JKPPA STML) plans to provide and giveaway a total of 150 breakfast sets for free every Wednesday at STML.
According to the Dean of STML Assoc. Prof. Dr. Shahimi Mohtar the project which started on the 24 February successfully gave away breakfast sets which consisted of ‘nasi lemak’ and bread especially prepared for students of STML.
"This programme which is the brainchild of UUM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dato' Seri Dr Mohamed Mustafa Ishak, particularly aims to ease the burden of students as well as to ensure that students begin their day with the most important meal of the day.
"In addition to ‘nasi lemak’ and bread, we intend to prepare a variety of food and drinks in the future for the students of STML before they start their classes in the morning," he said.
Meanwhile, Dr. Noor Hidayah Abu, Chairman of the Student Development and Alumni Committee of STML said that the successful implementation of the programme is the result of contributions from fellow lecturers and staff at STML.
She said that in the early stages, they managed to obtain donations of MYR1,000 from the academic staff.
"We believe this donation will continue to increase every week, in fact we are also touched and delighted because there are also lecturers who are willing to donate food stuff and beverages.
"I would like to thank the Student Development and Alumni Committee and STML lecturers for supporting the STML FOOD FOR LOVE programme," she said.
