Two Masters students (by research) from School of Technology Management and Logistics (STML) was selected by Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (JAIST) in Ishikawa, Japan to conduct a part of their research under a scholarship from Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO).

The students were Ainul Nur Syerrini binti Amat Salleh (821919) and Yumna binti Hasbullah (822019) and under joint supervision of Dr. Norani Nordin, Prof0 Dr. Quamrul Hasan and Prof. Youji Kohda, who have completed the program successfully and returned to UUM recently. They stayed and worked at JAIST from 6 February to 26 March 2017. The purpose of this program was to conduct a part of their research at JAIST by collecting data for their Masters thesis and to enhance collaboration with JAIST as an MOU partner. For the whole period of their stay in Japan, the students were placed in Kohda Lab under the direct supervision of Prof. Youji Kohda in School of Knowledge Science, JAIST. In addition, for the data collection and observation, they visited Japan Halal Association (JHA), Saraya Co. Ltd, Gakushikaikan Corporation and Miyako International Tourist Co., Ltd. in Osaka, and Japan Travel Bureau in Tokyo. These arrangements were jointly made by Prof. Youji Kohda and Prof. Dr. Quamrul Hasan, and the visits were guided by Prof. Youji Kohda himself.
