Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) emerged champion of the 2016 Logistics and Transport Debate Competition defeating Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) in the final round held at the AK Academy yesterday.
The first of its kind competition saw three Institutions of Higher Learning (IHL) which were represented by two teams each, went head to head with one another. The competition required participants to debate on topics relating to transport and logistics such as KRA Canal, ETS System, Free Port, International Airport and World City. The UUM Team B that emerged as the winner of the competition was represented by students of the School of Technology Management and Logistics (STML, Chieng Mong Nir, Nurul Atiqah Hassan, Thong Wei Shan dan Kuyeli Lakshmanan. As victors of the competition, they took home a cash prize of MYR 1,000 and will defend the championship trophy for the competition next year, while UUM Team A successfully ventured to the semi-finals. The competition was organised by The Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport (CILT-Penang) and the Society of Logisticians Malaysia (LogM).
